What is signup fraud?

Signup fraud is the creation of accounts that are not genuine new customers—bots, stolen identities, or one person opening many profiles—usually to harvest incentives or stage later payment abuse.

Events to send

Evaluate the registration event with device fingerprint, IP, email, and a stable external id as soon as you mint one. Count signups per device and IP in short windows. Thin KYC plus immediate first-funding is the usual next hop.

How Naiza applies it

Use velocity, device intelligence, lists, and email/IP enrichment on signup. Start in REVIEW for clusters. BLOCK listed fingerprints and confirmed farms. This is not a document KYC product.

Overlap with AML

A farmed account can still need watchlist screening if you onboard it. Screen the legal name you collected; do not skip AML because the fraud score was low.

Frequently asked questions

Short answers written so search and answer engines can cite them.

What is a signup fraud API?

It evaluates the registration event and returns ALLOW, REVIEW, or BLOCK so you can stop farms before the first bonus or payout.

Is signup fraud the same as multi-accounting?

Multi-accounting is a common method. Signup fraud is the broader problem and also includes bots and stolen-identity registrations.

Should every high-velocity signup be blocked?

No. Shared NAT and campus Wi-Fi create bursts. Pair velocity with device linking and listed identifiers.
