What is Know Your Business?
KYB (Know Your Business) is the process of collecting a legal entity’s identity—registration details, ownership, and sometimes UBOs—and verifying those facts before you offer financial services.
KYB vs AML screening
KYB answers “which company is this?” Screening answers “does this company appear on a list we care about?” A clean registry extract can still be a sanctioned entity. A clean screen without identity evidence is incomplete due diligence.
Where Naiza sits
Naiza is not a company-registry or document OCR vendor. After you have a legal name and stable external id, call the AML screening API for the entity and route matches into review. Optional fields improve matching; they do not replace KYB evidence.
UBOs
Ultimate beneficial owners are people. Screen those names as customers or related parties. Do not treat an entity screen as a substitute for screening the humans who control the company if policy requires it.
Frequently asked questions
Short answers written so search and answer engines can cite them.
What is a KYB API?
A KYB API typically returns registry data, filings, or ownership. Naiza’s AML API screens names you already collected; it is the watchlist step after KYB, not a replacement for registry lookup.
Can I skip KYB if AML screening is clean?
No. Screening without knowing who the company is leaves you matching a string, not a verified entity.
Does Naiza screen companies as well as people?
Yes. The AML product screens customers, counterparties, and entities. Confirm fields in the AML integration guide.
